Description

The Columbia 212106 Spire Valley is a windbreaker made from 100% nylon. Nylon runs lighter than polyester at the same coverage and resists abrasion better, and a tight nylon weave is what cuts wind, which is the whole job of this jacket. Omni-Shade rates the fabric UPF 50, blocking roughly 98 percent of UV radiation, and an Omni-Shield finish makes water and stains bead and run off rather than soak in.

Elastic cuffs and hem close both openings, which is what keeps wind from pushing up under the jacket or in at the wrists, and on a light shell that matters more than on a heavier layer. A front zipper opens it completely for layering, and hand pockets close with snaps rather than zippers, which open in one pull with cold hands. The cut is a regular fit. Columbia branding sits at the lower left chest, so decoration usually runs on the upper left chest, the opposite side, or the back. This is a customizable piece. Outdoor and warm weather retail, travel and active programs, and custom decorated apparel programs are the common fit.

Care Instructions

Machine wash cold with like colors.
Do not bleach, as bleach weakens nylon and causes yellowing.
Tumble dry low, since nylon is heat sensitive.
Do not use fabric softener, since it strips the water-repellent finish.
Do not iron, as nylon melts at low heat.
