Description

The Berne HVJS206 is a men's high-visibility softshell jacket made from 8 oz. polyester bonded to microfleece. The softshell face blocks wind and sheds water while still breathing, so the jacket handles weather on a job site without sealing in the heat a worker generates, and the microfleece backing puts a warm surface against the body. The jacket is certified to ANSI/ISEA 107-2020 Type R Class 3, the highest garment class, rated for roadway work and anywhere a worker needs to be seen from a distance or at speed. Class 3 requires reflective and background material on the sleeves as well as the body, which is why it covers conditions a vest alone cannot.

A 2-inch reflective tape carries that visibility in low light and at night. An adjustable three-piece hood follows the head and tightens around the face, adjustable cuffs close at the wrist or open over a glove, and an elastic waist cord with toggles pulls the hem in so cold air does not push up under the jacket. A zippered left chest pocket and zippered front pockets keep essentials secure through bending and climbing. Because the Class 3 rating depends on the full amount of reflective and background material staying visible, decoration has to stay off both, and covering either can take the jacket out of its rating. Road and highway crews, utility and construction programs, night work operations, and traffic control teams are the common fit.

Care Instructions

Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle with like colors.
Do not bleach, as bleach fades the high visibility color and degrades reflective tape.
Tumble dry low or line dry to protect the reflective tape and bonded layers.
Do not use fabric softener, since it dulls the reflective surface and reduces breathability.
Do not iron, as heat damages the reflective tape.
