That weight is the working part of the snag protection story, since a denser knit gives pulls less structure to catch in, and a polo that resists pulls keeps looking presentable months into a uniform rotation rather than collecting small flaws across the chest and sleeves. It has been tested to 75 industrial washes in accordance with AATCC industry standards, which is the benchmark for garments going through commercial laundering.
